Latin America’s sought-after confectionery show

This year, there were more than 90 first-time brands on show, and the numbers are “considerably rising” over the years.

Confitexpo, a sought-after confectionery exhibition in Mexico and Latin America, recently concluded its 32nd edition. The show saw participation by more than 310 national and foreign companies, who presented their novelties in candies, bubble gums, jellies, regional candies, snacks, chocolates, sugar-free candies, packaging, machinery and services.

Confitexpo 2017 spanned 19,000sqm of the exhibition spaace at Expo Guadalajara, Mexico. According to ProMéxico Trade and Investment, more than 800 Mexican food products are present in international markets. And Mexico stands out as a strong exporter in various food product categories, including drinks (alcoholic and nonalcoholic), sweets, tobacco, snacks and packaging.

To help foster Mexico as a leading global exporter, Confitexpo enables collaborations between manufacturers and distributors, with business chambers and associations related to their industries helping them scale globally.

The show also provided participants the opportunity to
do business with exporters, buyers and suppliers worldwide, and increase their product catalogues, thus diversifying their business.

At the opening ceremony of Confitexpo 2017, Lic. José María Herrera, general manager of Confitexpo, said: “This year, we have more than 300 national and foreign participating companies, [and they came] from China, the US, Spain, El Salvador, the UK, Pakistan, Indonesia and The Netherlands, among others.”

This year’s SME Pavilion drew massive support as in previous shows. This time around, Pavilion Jalisco represented more than 18 companies from Mexico, featuring local products which were a hit to visitors and professional industry buyers. The showcase also gave the local confectionery industry the much-needed exposure.

There were a total of 92 first-time brands at Confitexpo 2017, and the numbers are “considerably rising” over the years. This year’s exhibitors presented original products and services that “make the difference”, in accordance with constant market evolution, thus offering new business opportunities. The show also provided participants the opportunity to do business with exporters, buyers and suppliers worldwide, and increase their product catalogues, thus diversifying their business.

The 33rd edition of Confitexpo will take place next year from July 31-August 3 at Expo Guadalajara (Jalisco), Mexico.
