The Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) board of directors has announced that the International Featured Standard (IFS) Food, IFS Logistics and IFS PacSecure are now all recognised against version 7.1 of the GFSI Benchmarking Requirements.
Last year, GFSI published version 7.1 of the Benchmarking Requirements as part of its objective to continually evolve the requirements and to reflect new industry challenges, best practices and stakeholder input. IFS, one of GFSI’s recognised certification programme owners (CPOs) for many years, was invited to complete a new assessment. This collaborative exercise is one of the key ways in which GFSI ensures that new requirements are implemented throughout the industry to ensure safe food for consumers, everywhere.
“We are delighted that the IFS Standards for Food, Logistics and Packaging have all achieved benchmarking against the new GFSI Benchmarking Requirements v7.1,” said Stephan Tromp, managing director of IFS.
Emphasising the robust management of the IFS certification programmes, Tromp added: “Our integrity programme and auditor exam guarantee the high quality of the IFS standards. So, we fully support the new GFSI Benchmarking Requirements v7.1. The benchmarking process was an exciting opportunity for IFS to review all our tools and processes. Also, the discussions with the GFSI experts gave us added value and new input for further improvements”.
