The Fruit Garden, a Philippine-based artisan jam maker, has been awarded a one-star by UK-based Great Taste awards for its Pineapple Coco Rhum Jam.
Great Taste, organised by the Guild of Fine Food, values taste above all else with no regard for branding or packaging. It is the largest and most trusted accreditation scheme for fine food and drink. It supports, promotes and mentors artisan food producers, large and small, who want to supply the UK independent retail sector and overseas stores selling fine food.
The awards body boasts of a “unique benchmarking and product evaluation service” leading to an independent accreditation that encourages confidence and commercial success for small businesses, generating greater awareness of products — locally, regionally, nationally and internationally.
The Fruit Garden says it is the “first and only” Philippine company in the jam segment to be chosen this year in recognition of its product’s distinct taste.
The Pineapple Coco Rhum Jam is made of local ingredients and its unique flavour is attained by cooking in a copper cauldron in small batches and under strict quality control processes.
After gaining one star, the artisanal jam brand is on a quest to attain more of such recognition by foreign markets, seeking to expand abroad and share with the rest of the world products the Philippines has to offer.
The Great Taste 2018 results were released early this month in the UK.
